Bambua Lodge & Restaurant, Palawan Philippines

Bambua Lodge and Restaurant, the nicest among the small Palawan resorts in Sabang Palawan, is a kilometer away from the village. Bambua Lodge is located in a beautiful area surrounded by mountains and rice paddies, just beside the St. Paul Palawan Underground River National Park. Bambua Resort is on a dirt road that connects Puerto Princesa Palawan to Sabang.

The Bambua Resort on Palawan island is perched on a small hill, a five-minute walk from the road through a well-maintained path that leads to a wooden bungalow set at treetop level. This serves as the restaurant and reception area. In summer, tables are set in the garden.

Andre and Rosalie Dartmann, a German-Filipino couple, who are full of ideas in extending their property and improving its comforts, own and manage this lovely Palawan resort. Note that Sabang Palawan is still remote and it is this isolation that gives its particular charm.

The atmosphere is informal. Several tiny and very simple bungalows are scattered in the garden. The interiors are very basic and common as well with showers and toilets outside. Andre has also constructed four detached and delightful bungalows.

These four bungalows are spacious with a bathroom, a double bed with a mosquito net and a small lounge corner. The view that you get from the terrace is exquisite, overlooking rice paddies and mountains from a distance.

From Sabang Palawan, you can also hire a banca at the pier, and go to the unspoiled and serene beach of Panagumian, 30 minutes away, and 10 minutes away from the Palawan Underground River National Park.

How to go to Sabang Palawan and to Bambua Resort:
Sabang Island is located on the South-China Sea side of Palawan. It is 80 km away from the City going North-West( Sabang is still part of Puerto Princesa City, even it is that remote...). The trip will take about 2 - 4 hours traveling by Van or Jeepney.

On the way to Sabang Palawan you will see amazing Nature and beautiful landscapes. The first 40 km it goes on the new Highway connecting Puerto Princesa Palawan with Roxas in the North. In Salvacion is the junction to Sabang Palawan. No more concreted or asphalted roads anymore for the next 40 km to Sabang. You will pass by in Brgy. Macarascas, Brgy. Buenavista with a view on the Teresa Maria Islands in the Ulugan Bay, and then later the Djungel landscape of Tagabinet . Then you will reach Cabayugan which is surrounded by high Karst Mountains. Here is already the boundary of the Puerto Princesa Palawan Subterranean National Park. You can have your first view on the St. Paul Mountain Range, the source of the Palawan Underground River.

Public Jeepneys are leaving for Sabang at the new Bus Terminal. It is better to be early at the Terminal. The best time to travel this route is to take the 7 am Jeepney. Until around 3 pm several Jeepneys and buses are departing for Sabang.
Aircon Vans can be hired in any Travel Agency here in Puerto Princesa or direkt at the Airport.

Note: Transfers with door to door service are arranged by WOW Philippines Travel Agency in Manila.

Sabang Palawan can be reached also by boat coming from Northern Palawan (the Pagdanan Bay Islands, Port Barton and El Nido Island).
