El Nido Palawan Philippines

Few sceneries have the almost mythical beauty of the El Nido archipelago. Leaving the frenzy of Manila and its cacophony of noises, you are suddenly transported to a world of stone and silence, whose splendor is staggering. Wherever you set your sights on, limestone islands raise their high and enigmatic silhouettes over the sea. The rocks take surreal forms, evoking a world of magicians, ogres and fantastic creatures.

Lagoons of crystal-clear turquoise and emerald waters hide beneath the stone depths. During the rainy season, from the months of May to the end of August, it does rain, but rarely for days on end. As soon as the sun shines, the drying cliffs take on astonishing shades of color, from very pale gray to black.

The rocks are always adorned with flowers, wild begonias punctuating the cliff as if with small, red lanterns. You can stay fro a week at El Nido with having discovered everything there is to see.

The most essential trips around the vicinity are described here. Whichever resort you might be staying in, all these islands can be visited by banca.

THE MINILOC LAGOONS
Miniloc Island, where the comfortable El Nido Resorts Miniloc is located, must be the most visited of the Bacuit Archipelago. Within Miniloc Island are two lagoons: Big Lagoon and Small Lagoon. Big Lagoon is 15 minutes away form the resort. You enter it after crossing a rather narrow canyon, surrounded by high limestone cliffs that seem to cut the sky with their sharp edges. Small Lagoon is a little farther on the island's coast. The crossing can be rough at times, but the contrast as you enter the lagoon's silent world is captivating. At is far end, accessible only by canoe or swimming, is an opening in the rocks that lead to even smaller and more enchanting lagoons imprisoned by immense cliffs. One of these is cone-shaped and aptly named "the cathedral". Residing in El Nido Resorts Miniloc, you can easily be dropped off by a kayak in any of the two lagoons and comb these magical places at your own pace.

PAYONG-PAYONG (5 minutes from Miniloc) The beach with a small reef is on the right side of El Nido Resorts Miniloc. You can also have wonderful snorkeling along the coast.

PANGALUSIAN  (20 minutes from Miniloc) The island is rather flat and boasts of a nice beach. Its principal attraction is the 30-minute climb through a well-indicated path on the hill, which allows a breathtaking view of the archipelago.
