Flower Island Resort, Palawan Philippines

Flower Island is an enchanted hideaway in the vast and remote Taytay Bay. Flower Island Resort was built behind a golden beach encircled by a coral reef. Thierry, the owner, lives here with his wife, Rose, and their six children, part of the year. In his absence, Patrick, another Frenchman from Marseilles, warmly welcomes you. Flower Island Resort has a homey and casual atmosphere. Moreover, the quality and service you get here is well worth the price you pay.

Flower Island Resort offers five-bungalows, all well appointed. The bungalows are spread out along a pristine beach, far enough from each other, among bougainvilleas, frangipani trees and red lilies. These are constructed with natural materials, mainly bamboo and nipa. The interior is relatively spacious with mosquito-netted beds. The adjoining bathroom is simple but functional, with a giant clam shell, which serves as a washbasin. A big pail of fresh water is brought in every morning. The terraces fronting the bungalows are very attractive, with hammocks facing the sea, assuring complete privacy.

The restaurant sites in a big round bungalow opening onto the beach with a small lounge for reading for listening to music. The place is pretty with red tile floors, bamboo and cast iron furniture, and walls decorated with Gauguin reproductions done by a Filipino artist. Everything is bathed in a subdued light. You may feel as if you are in the south of France. Indeed, you would give your host great pleasure by bringing them a bottle of pastis, and alcoholic specialty from Marseilles.
You can, in an hour, tour Flower Island on foot across rocks, but its interior is impenetrable. The beach is nice for swimming or snorkeling in the small coral reef fronting the resort. There is a beautiful mangrove patch at one end of the beach. A small promontory, evoking some Balinese temple was fitted in. It is only accessible at low tide.
Canoes are available and the resort's banca can bring you around in search of islets. There is a brand new dive center with a PADI instructor and several good spots nearby are accessible by speed boat. You can also fish-and taste your day's catch in the evening. And then, if you can remove yourself from the gentleness of Flower Island, Club Noah Isabelle Resort and its magnificent coral reef is only and hour away by banca.
At Flower Island Palawan Resort you lose all sense of time. It is the ideal place to rest, read in your hammock or walk along the small beach collecting seashells.
